Information about receiving fare discounts in public transport for long service pensioners, medics and parents of families with many children residing in Riga
According to amendments to Riga municipality’s binding regulations No. 89 “On fare discounts in the network of routes of Riga city’s public transport”, Riga residents – long service pensioners and medics working at Riga municipality’s medical capital societies for at least 20 hours per week can apply for fare discounts as of April 21. The above categories of passengers will be able to use discounts only after their approval by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Regional Development. Both parents of families with many children will be granted discounts in August this year.
How to receive discounts?
One has to receive a personalized e-ticket/Riga resident’s card at first. It can be done in any of “Rīgas satiksme” customer service centres, whose addresses and working hours are available at http://ej.uz/uttc .
“Rīgas satiksme” reminds that it is possible to book a visit to a customer service centre in advance on the “Rīgas satiksme” website at http://ej.uz/whh9 or by phone 80001919.
Long-service pensioners can apply for discounts at “Rīgas satiksme” customer service centres as of April 21. They must have an ID document and a long-service pensioner’s certificate with them. Non-working long-service pensioners have also to present a certificate from the State Social Insurance Agency confirming that the person does not work.
Medics working at Riga municipality’s medical capital societies for at least 20 hours per week shall confirm at their workplace that they want to use discounts before they go to a customer service centre and apply individually for discounts. They must have an ID document with them.
Parents of families with 3-5 children, who have declared their place of residence within the administrative borders of Riga city, will be able to receive fare discounts in August this year.
The precise prices of tickets for the new categories of passengers entitled to fare discounts will be published on the “Rīgas satiksme” website at www.rigassatiksme.lv only after they are approved by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Regional Development and take effect.
